Republic Day 2018: Stunt biking women soldiers set to make history

On India’s 69th Republic Day, the nation will maintain its breath as 106 women, a lot of who couldn’t ride a bicycle till 15 months ago, will perform daredevil stunts on bicycles. But do not worry about them these are women. They’re part of Seema Bhavani, the biking contingent upon the Border Security Force. Led by Sub Inspector Stanzin Noryang from Ladakh, the squad will be the group of women bikers to do at the Republic Day parade. Typically, the honor of ending the Republic Day Parade is shared by the Indian Army’s and BSF’s bike contingents. 

This year, the BSF chose to ship its women contingent in place of all guys Janbaaz stunt group. Seema Bhavani, or Border Bravehearts, consists of female soldiers aged 25-30 years from India. BSF Director General KK Sharma with the set up the contingent in October 2016, with the aim to empower and inspire women across the Nation. When the squad was put together, nearly all women soldiers did not know how to cycle, let alone biking. The women underwent a vigorous training regime at Academy at Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh. After constructing basic fitness flexibility, the group has been taught how to ride the 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet. 

At the final few months, the team went through phase based suggestion. And now, they’re ready to do throwing tricks in front of the country, reminding it that the borders are safe with these badass ladies. The women squad has been named Seema Bhavani and also the border braves. An official of the paramilitary force stated. The BSF daredevil team had made some news several years back when the former US President Barack Obama while officiating as the main guest of the 2015 parade, signaled a thumbs up to the motorcyclists at his dais on Rajpath and had later called their stunts impressive. The BSF will have its iconic camel contingent together with his walking and group teams to float down the Rajpath the exact same day.
